The National Orchestra of Bascarsija has 16 permanent members, as well as a preparatory orchestra consisting out of 5 to 10 members. The folklore orchestral repertoire covers choreographed arrangements from Bosnia and Herzegovina at the first place. There are also choreographies from regions of Serbia, Croatia, Macedonia, Montenegro and Kosovo. The repertoire includes numerous traditional songs, kola (circle dances) and dances from the both urban and rural Bosnian-Herzegovinian tradition.
The specificity of the orchestra cannot be considered only in the quality of arrangement and performances in full orchestral composition, but also in the nurturing of performances on traditional instruments, including: sargija, zurna, lijerica and traditional Bosnian drum. The orchestra cooperates with all ensembles and sections operating in Bascarsija.
